How to get your Google review link (and a QR code for it)

Two ways to get a link that opens your Google review box straight away, how to turn it into a QR code, and how to ask for reviews within Google's rules.

Most happy customers would leave a review if it took ten seconds. The problem is getting to the review box. Without a direct link, they have to search for your business, pick the right listing, scroll to the reviews and find the button. Plenty give up somewhere along the way.

A Google review link skips all of that. One tap opens the star rating and the text box for your business, ready to fill in. Here's how to get yours, two ways, and what to do with it once you have it.

Way 1: from your Google Business Profile

If you manage the business on Google, this is the quickest route.

  1. Sign in to the Google account that manages your business.
  2. Search Google for your business name. Your profile tools appear above the results.
  3. Choose Ask for reviews. Google sometimes labels it Get more reviews.
  4. Copy the link Google shows you. It's a short link, usually starting with g.page/r/.

That link opens your review form directly, and it's short enough to read out or type. Google moves these buttons around from time to time, so if you can't see it, look in Business Profile Manager instead.

Way 2: from your Place ID

Every business on Google Maps has a Place ID, a long code that usually starts with ChIJ. You don't need to manage the listing to find it, which makes this route handy when you're setting up links for a client or a friend's shop.

  1. Open Google's Place ID Finder and search for the business on its map.
  2. Click the listing and copy the Place ID.
  3. Paste it into our Google review link generator.

You get a link in this form:

https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=ChIJ...

It does the same job as the g.page link: it opens the review box straight away, on phones and computers. People need to be signed in to a Google account to post, which most phone users already are.

The generator also gives you a QR code and a short message to send, in a friendly, formal or very short tone. It all runs in your browser, so nothing you type is sent to us.

Make it a QR code

Customers are most willing to leave a review while they're still at the counter or the table. A QR code meets them there.

  • Print it where people wait or finish: table cards, receipts, takeaway bags, the shop door, the card that comes with a delivery.
  • Say what it is. "Enjoyed your visit? Leave us a review" next to the code gets more scans than a bare code.
  • Keep it big enough. Around 3 cm across is comfortable on a table. Bigger for a window or a poster.
  • Download the SVG for print so it stays sharp at any size, and leave a white border around it.
  • Test it on two or three phones before you print a batch.

If you'd like a link you can read out loud, or want to count how many people tap it, put the review link behind a Liite short link such as liite.co/x/yourshop-review. Free includes 10 short links.

How to ask, and when

Timing matters more than wording. Ask soon after the visit, while it's fresh: at the till, on the receipt, or in a message the same day. A short, personal note works better than a template that reads like one.

Thanks for coming in today. If you have a minute, a Google review really helps a small business like ours: [your link]

WhatsApp and SMS work well for this, because people read them. Our WhatsApp link generator and SMS link generator can turn the message into a link of its own, for example in a booking confirmation.

What Google doesn't allow

Two rules are worth knowing before you start, because breaking them can get reviews removed from your listing.

  • No incentives. Don't offer a discount, a free coffee or a prize draw in return for a review.
  • No review gating. Don't ask only the customers you expect to be happy, or send unhappy ones somewhere else first. Ask everyone the same way.

You'll also find "review generator" tools that write five-star reviews for you to post. Fake reviews break Google's policies and, in many countries, consumer law. A steady trickle of real ones is worth far more.

Keep your reviews on your own page too

Google reviews live on Google. If you want to show them off on your own page, or collect reviews from customers who don't use Google, Liite has review pages built in.

You get a link and a QR code where customers write a review, with no account needed. You approve the ones you want to show, and they appear on a review wall at liite.co/r/yourcode and in a Reviews block on your page at liite.co/yourname. Free stores up to 10 reviews.

Your page can carry the Google review link too, as a button next to your menu, opening hours and booking link. One printed QR code then opens all of it, and you can change what's on the page without reprinting.

Ready to start collecting reviews? Get your link with the Google review link generator, then make your free page to put it where customers already look.
