CAN-SPAM Compliance

Last updated 20 October 2026

The short version

  • Liite emails you only about your account and the features you use. We don't send marketing newsletters.
  • Broadcasts you send through Liite go only to confirmed, double opt-in subscribers, carry your postal address and a working unsubscribe link, and support one-click unsubscribe.
  • Unsubscribes take effect immediately, not in ten days. Bounces and spam complaints are suppressed automatically.
  • You stay responsible for honest subject lines and content, and for following the Acceptable Use Policy.

1. What the CAN-SPAM Act requires

The CAN-SPAM Act is the United States law for commercial email. In short, it requires that a commercial message doesn't use false or misleading header information or deceptive subject lines, identifies itself as an advertisement where that isn't obvious, tells recipients where the sender is located with a valid physical postal address, tells them how to opt out of future email, honours opt-outs promptly (within ten business days), and makes the sender responsible even if someone else sends on their behalf. Liite is built so that broadcasts sent through it meet these requirements by default, and this page explains what we do and what is up to you.

2. Emails Liite sends to you

Liite sends account holders transactional and relationship email only: verifying your address, resetting a password, signing in by link, a new form message, a site about to expire, a broken link, a report that was opened, a receipt. These are about your account and the features you use, and they come from hi@liite.co with our real name and address.

We don't send a marketing newsletter. If we ever do, it will be opt-in, come with an unsubscribe link, and follow everything on this page.

3. Broadcasts you send to your subscribers

When you email the people who signed up on your page, Liite handles the mechanics of compliance for you:

  • Confirmed opt-in. Every sign-up through an Email sign-up block gets a confirmation email and joins your list only after clicking the link in it. Unconfirmed addresses never receive broadcasts.
  • Honest headers. Broadcasts go out with your site's name as the sender name, from Liite's sending domain, with replies routed to your account email. You can't change the originating address or forge headers.
  • Your postal address in every message. You must add a valid physical postal address in your workspace before the first broadcast can be sent. It is printed at the bottom of every message, along with a line saying why the recipient is getting it.
  • Unsubscribe in every message. Each recipient gets their own unsubscribe link in the footer, and every message carries the List-Unsubscribe and List-Unsubscribe-Post headers, so mail apps can show a one-click unsubscribe button.
  • Opt-outs are honoured immediately. An unsubscribe takes effect the moment it is clicked, well within the ten business days the law allows, and that address is excluded from every later broadcast from your site. We don't charge for opting out, ask for a login or request any information beyond the click.
  • Bounces and complaints. Addresses that hard-bounce or mark a message as spam are suppressed automatically across Liite and removed from your list, so they aren't emailed again.
  • Monthly limits. Broadcasts are a paid feature with a monthly cap set by your plan, which keeps volumes modest and sender reputation healthy.

4. What you must do

Liite can't write your emails for you. As the sender you remain responsible for the content, and you agree to:

  • Email only people who signed up on your page. Don't import bought, scraped or borrowed lists; Liite doesn't offer list import for this reason.
  • Write subject lines that honestly describe the message.
  • Make it clear when a message is an advertisement, if that isn't obvious from context.
  • Keep your postal address current. A P.O. box or a registered commercial mail-receiving agency address is fine; a made-up one is not.
  • Never remove, hide or break the unsubscribe link and footer that Liite adds.
  • If you also email the same people from another tool, honour unsubscribes there too. Export your subscriber list regularly, or check it before sending elsewhere.
  • Follow the laws where your recipients are, such as the GDPR and ePrivacy rules in Europe or CASL in Canada, which can be stricter than CAN-SPAM.

Sending spam through Liite breaks our Acceptable Use Policy and can lead to your broadcasts being paused or your account closed.

5. Other email features

  • Event messages to guests go only to people who RSVP'd to your event, carry your postal address and share your monthly broadcast allowance.
  • Confirmation, receipt and RSVP emails are sent once, in direct response to something the recipient did, so they are transactional.
  • Form notifications go to you, the site owner, not to your visitors.

6. Reporting abuse

If you received unwanted email sent through Liite, click the unsubscribe link in it, which works even if you never signed up. To tell us about it, forward the message with its headers to hi@liite.co or use Report a site. We review every report and act on confirmed abuse.
