Color palette with hex codes: what to know
This page starts the colour palette generator for this case. For every option and how to use it, see the colour palette generator.
Reading a hex code
A hex code is three numbers written in base 16. In #2f6fde, 2f is red (47 out of 255), 6f is green (111) and de is blue (222). 00 means none of that light and ff means full, so #000000 is black and #ffffff is white.
Hex codes aren't case-sensitive: #2F6FDE and #2f6fde are the same colour. An 8-digit code adds transparency as the last two digits.
Using the codes in HTML and design apps
In HTML and CSS, paste a code wherever a colour goes, for example color: #2f6fde. Figma, Canva and most design apps have a hex field in their colour picker; paste the code without anything else around it.
Questions
How do I get hex codes for a color palette?
Pick a base colour above. The scale and matching colours all show their hex codes, and "Copy as hex" gives you the whole palette, one code per line.
Can I use these hex codes in HTML?
Yes. HTML and CSS accept hex codes directly, for example style="color: #2f6fde".
