Pastes

Private pastebin

Liite pastes are private by default: they're never listed anywhere, and only someone with the link can open one. Add burn after reading or a short expiry for anything that shouldn't stay around, or a password on Pro and up.

What private means here

There is no public archive, no recent pastes list and no search on Liite. A paste can only be found by someone who has its link.

Pastes made without an account always tell search engines not to index them. Account pastes stay out of search too, unless you switch that on, and pastes with a password or burn after reading are never indexed.

Ways to keep it short-lived

Pick any mix of these when you publish. All but the password work without an account.

  • Burn after reading: the first person to open it sees a warning, chooses Open and delete, and the paste is gone after that. Link previews in chat apps don't use it up.
  • Expiry: 1 hour, 1 day or 7 days without an account, up to 30 days on Free, or no end date on paid plans.
  • Password (Pro and up): readers type it before the paste opens.
  • Delete it yourself at any time, from your list or with the secret edit link.

What it isn't

Liite pastes are not end-to-end encrypted. The text is stored on our servers as you wrote it, and we can remove a paste that breaks our rules. If you need a paste that even the service can't read, use a tool built for client-side encryption.

Don't use any paste for passwords, keys or bank details. Send those through a password manager's sharing feature instead.

The password protects the paste page. Images inside the paste are separate files with their own long, random addresses.

A real example

A sample handover note rendered by the same code as every live paste page. Made without an account, it carries a noindex tag, so search engines leave it out, and its web address shows as plain text.

Rendered by the same code as every liite.co/n/ paste. Sample text.

What you can do

Burn after reading
One reader, then it's deleted. The reader confirms before it opens, so a preview bot can't burn it by accident.Learn more about burn after reading
Passwords on Pro and up
Lock a paste or a short link with a password. Locked pastes are never indexed.Learn more about passwords on pro and up
Make a strong password
If you lock a paste, generate a password in your browser and send it separately from the link.Learn more about make a strong password

Questions

Can other people find my paste?
Only if they have the link. Liite has no public list or search of pastes, and pastes without an account are always kept out of search engines.
Is a Liite paste encrypted?
No. It isn't end-to-end encrypted: the text is stored on our servers as written. For secrets, use a tool made for encrypted sharing.
Can I add a password to a paste?
Yes, on Pro and Business. Free accounts and pastes made without an account can use burn after reading and an expiry instead.
What happens when someone opens a burn-after-reading paste?
They see a page saying it disappears once opened, and choose Open and delete. They can read it on that page; after that the link says the paste isn't available.
How do I delete a paste early?
With an account, delete it from your list of pastes. Without one, open the secret edit link you were shown after publishing and delete it there.

Make yours
