Why copied text breaks into lines
A PDF stores text as lines placed on a page, not as flowing paragraphs. When you copy from it, each line often comes out with a hard line break at the end, so pasting into a document, a form or an email leaves you with a ragged column of short lines. Plain-text emails and older documents can do the same, because they wrap lines at a fixed width.
Three ways to fix it
Remove all line breaks joins everything into a single paragraph. Use it for a short quote, an address or anything that should end up on one line.
Keep paragraphs is usually the one you want for longer text. Blank lines between paragraphs stay, and the single breaks inside each paragraph are joined with a space, so the text reflows naturally while its structure survives.
Replace with a separator turns each line into an item. Pick a comma, a space or type your own, which is handy for turning a column of names or email addresses copied from a spreadsheet into one comma-separated list.
Clean-up options
Text from PDFs often splits long words with a hyphen at the end of a line, like "infor-" on one line and "mation" on the next. Rejoin hyphenated words puts them back together as "information". Check the result where a real hyphen happened to fall at a line end, such as "well-known", since those can be joined too.
Collapse double spaces turns runs of spaces into one, which tidies text where joined lines left gaps. Trim each line removes spaces and tabs at the start and end of every line before joining, so indents don't turn into stray spaces in the middle of a sentence.
Windows, Mac and Linux mark line breaks differently, and text copied between them can carry a hidden carriage return at the end of each line. The tool handles both styles, so the result is the same wherever your text came from.
Private by design
Everything happens in your browser. The text you paste, which might be a contract or a private email, isn't sent to us or saved.
Questions
How do I remove line breaks from text copied from a PDF?
Paste the text in, choose keep paragraphs, and turn on rejoin hyphenated words. Then copy the result.
Can I replace line breaks with commas?
Yes. Choose replace with a separator and pick a comma, or type any other separator you want.
Will it keep my paragraphs?
In keep paragraphs mode, yes. Blank lines stay as paragraph breaks and only the single line breaks inside paragraphs are removed.
What does rejoin hyphenated words do?
It joins words split across two lines with a hyphen, so "infor-" and "mation" become "information".
Is my text stored?
No. The text is processed in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere.
