Color shades and tints: what to know
This page starts the colour palette generator for this case. For every option and how to use it, see the colour palette generator.
Why not just add white or black
Mixing with white or black in plain RGB tends to shift the hue: light tints of blue drift towards purple, and dark shades of yellow go muddy. The tool works in OKLCH, which keeps the hue fixed while it changes lightness, so every step still looks like the same colour.
Picking a shade from the scale
The steps 50–400 are tints, 500 is close to the original colour and 600–950 are shades. Click any step to copy it, or copy the whole set as CSS variables or Tailwind classes.
