Soft gradients use pale, low-contrast colours. This one drifts from lavender through light pink into lemon chiffon, a light pastel look people often call aesthetic, for posts, phone screens and gentle web pages.

Keeping it soft

The trick is keeping every stop pale and close in lightness. One saturated colour breaks the effect. To change the palette, try mint, peach or baby blue, but keep them as light as the three here. Dark text reads everywhere; for a dreamier finish add grain at about 0.05.

Questions

What makes a gradient look aesthetic?

Usually pastel colours, a gentle angle and sometimes light grain. All of that fits on one screen of this tool.

How do I make a light gradient background?

Choose colours with high lightness, like the three here, or pick any colour and move it towards white in the colour field.
