Media kit PDF

A media kit PDF is your creator media kit saved as a PDF file: one page with your reach, audience, rates and contact details that looks the same on every phone and computer. You can make one free with the generator on this page and attach it to an email to a brand.

Why send your media kit as a PDF

A PDF keeps its layout. Fonts, colours and spacing stay where you put them, whether the brand opens it on a laptop, a phone or prints it. A Word file or a slide deck can shift when it's opened in another app, and a link to a design tool may ask the brand to sign in.

PDFs are also small. A one-page kit with a photo is usually well under a megabyte, so it attaches easily. Gmail's help says personal accounts can send attachments up to 25 MB in total, and work accounts follow limits set by their administrator, so a one-page kit is nowhere near the limit.

A PNG of the same page is handy too. It's easier to send in a DM, where a PDF may not preview. The generator gives you both.

What goes in a media kit PDF

Keep it to one page so a brand can read it in under a minute:

  1. You: name, handle, niche, a two-line bio and a photo.
  2. Reach: followers, average views and engagement rate for each platform you use.
  3. Audience: top countries, main age ranges and gender split.
  4. Rates: three to five packages with prices, or "On request".
  5. Brands: the brands you've worked with, if any.
  6. Contact: your email and your page.

Take every number from your own analytics for the same period. Instagram Insights shows trends across your followers and how your content performs, and the Audience tab in YouTube Analytics shows who is watching. Round the numbers (18K rather than 18,214) so they're quick to read.

Make your media kit PDF

The generator below starts with a sample food creator's kit so you can see the layout. Every number in it is made up. Replace the name, the numbers and the rates with yours, add a photo if you like, then press PDF. The file is made in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

Before you send it

Open the PDF and check it on your phone, because that's where many brands will see it first. Check the details that are easy to get wrong:

  • Your email address and page link are spelled correctly.
  • The numbers come from the same period, and you can show where they came from if asked.
  • The prices are in the currency the brand pays in.
  • Nothing from the sample is left behind.

The PDF uses a standard font that covers Latin letters and common symbols. Emoji are left out of the PDF and some currency signs are written as letters, so if your name or rates use them, check the PNG as well; it shows everything as you typed it.

Naming and sending the file

Name the file so it's easy to find in an inbox: the generator saves it as your handle followed by "media-kit", such as yourhandle-media-kit.pdf. Attach it to a short email that says who you are, why you fit the brand and what you'd like to make for them. Don't rely on the kit alone to make the pitch.

Keep it up to date

Your numbers change every month. Update the kit before each pitch rather than sending an old file. If you'd rather not send a new PDF every time, put the same details on a Liite page and link to it; brands always see the latest version.

For what goes into a kit in more depth, see the media kit generator, or start from the influencer media kit if you post on several platforms.

Questions

What do I include in a media kit?

Your name, niche and a short bio, followers, average views and engagement per platform, your audience's top countries, ages and gender, your rates, past brands and how to contact you.

How do I create a media kit PDF?

Fill in the media kit generator on this page and press PDF. The file is made in your browser as one A4 page, ready to attach to an email.

What is the difference between a media kit and a press kit?

A media kit helps brands decide to work with you, with reach, audience and rates. A press kit helps journalists write about you, with background, news, logos and photos.

Can I edit a media kit PDF later?

Editing a PDF directly is fiddly. It's easier to change the details in the generator and download a new PDF. On the plain media kit generator your details are saved in your browser for next time.
