One line, nothing else
The tool starts on one sentence with the classic opening, so the box holds exactly this line. Copy it for a headline test, a form field or a single caption. Raise the count to add random sentences after it.
Why the Latin doesn't quite match
Cicero wrote "dolorem ipsum, quia dolor sit amet consectetur adipisci velit". The placeholder cut "dolorem" to "lorem", dropped "quia" and turned "adipisci" into "adipiscing". Later words were trimmed in the same way, so the sentence reads like Latin but says nothing.
Questions
What does "lorem ipsum dolor sit amet" mean?
As written, nothing. It comes from Cicero's "dolorem ipsum, quia dolor sit amet", which is about pain being loved or sought for its own sake, but the cuts make it meaningless.
Is it "consectetur" or "consectetuer"?
Cicero's text has consectetur, and so does this tool. Microsoft Word's =lorem() uses consectetuer. Both are placeholder text, so either is fine.
How long is the sentence?
19 words and 123 characters, counting spaces and punctuation.
