What a Twitter card is
A Twitter card is the preview X shows under a post that contains a link. With twitter:card set to summary_large_image, the card has a wide image across the top. With summary, or no tags at all, X shows a small square thumbnail instead, which is easy to scroll past.
Getting the large card
Download the PNG, upload it to your site and paste its full https:// address into the box under the preview. Copy the tags into your page's head. They include twitter:card set to summary_large_image and twitter:image, and the og:image tags other apps read. X falls back to og:image when twitter:image is missing, so one image serves both.
This page starts on the address footer template in dark colours, with your address in a pill along the bottom. Switch the colours to match your brand; the preview updates as you type.
Questions
What size is a Twitter card image?
X asks for a 2:1 image between 300×157 and 4096×4096 pixels, under 5 MB, for the large image card. This generator makes 1200×630, a little taller than 2:1, so keep text away from the top and bottom edges.
How do I get a Twitter card for my site?
Add twitter:card and an image tag to your page's head. The tags under the preview here do that; paste them in after you upload the image.
Why does X show a small card instead of a big one?
twitter:card is missing or set to summary, or the image is too small. Use summary_large_image and an image at least 300×157 pixels.
