vCard QR code generator

Fill in your name, phone, email and the rest. You get a QR code that adds you to someone's contacts when they scan it, and a .vcf file you can send or attach.

Free, no sign-up. Runs in your browser. Nothing you type or upload is sent to us or stored.

A contact card you can update

A Liite page can hold a save-contact card next to your links, and its QR code never changes. Edit your number or job title on the page and the printed code still works.

How to use it

  1. Enter your name, and add your company and job title if you want them.
  2. Add a mobile, a work phone, an email, a website and an address.
  3. Keep the note short so the code stays easy to scan.
  4. Download the QR code as PNG or SVG, or the .vcf file.

What a vCard QR code does

A vCard is the standard file format for contact details. Phones, Gmail, Outlook and Apple Contacts all read it. This tool writes your details as a vCard 3.0 and puts the whole thing inside a QR code, so scanning it shows a contact card with an option to save it.

On an iPhone, the camera app reads it; tap the banner to see the card. On Android, the camera or Google Lens does the same. The person doesn't need an app or an internet connection, because the details are in the code itself.

Keep the code easy to scan

Every field you fill in adds data, and more data means a denser code with smaller squares. A dense code still scans on a screen, but printed small on a business card it may not. The tool warns you when the code is getting dense. If it does, drop the note or the address, or print the code bigger.

There's no photo in the code for the same reason: an image would make it far too dense to scan. Download the SVG for print, since it stays sharp at any size.

The code is fixed once printed

A vCard QR code is static. Your details are written into it, so when your number, email or job changes you need a new code and a reprint. If you expect changes, point a QR code at a page you can edit instead, and put your contact details there.

Write phone numbers with the country code, such as +44 20 7946 0000, so they work for contacts in other countries. Use the address you'd want on an envelope, and the website people should actually visit.

Where to use it

A vCard QR code saves people from typing your number or spelling out your email, which is where mistakes creep in. One scan gives them your details exactly as you wrote them, with each field in the right place in their contacts app.

Print it on the back of a business card, a name badge at an event, a shop counter or the last slide of a talk. Attach the .vcf file to an email so people can save you without typing anything.

The code and the file are made in your browser. We don't see or store the details you type.

Questions

Is the vCard QR code free?

Yes. There's no sign-up and the code doesn't expire. It's a plain QR code, so it works for as long as the details in it are right.

Can I add a photo?

Not inside the QR code. A photo would make the code too dense to scan. You can add one to a digital business card or a Liite page instead.

Why won't my code scan when printed?

It's probably too dense for its size. Remove the note or the address, or print it larger. Test it with a couple of phones before ordering a big print run.

What's the .vcf file for?

It's the same contact card as a file. Attach it to an email or send it in a chat, and people can open it to save you to their contacts.

Can I change my details after printing?

No. The details are written into the code, so changes need a new code. A QR code that points to an editable Liite page avoids reprinting.
