Telegram share links
There are two things people mean by a Telegram share link. One is a t.me link to you, your group or your channel that you share so people can find you. The other is a t.me/share link: tapping it opens Telegram, asks which chat to send to, and puts your link and text in the message box ready to send.

You can make both with the tool on this page. Below is how each one works and where to find the links Telegram makes for you.
Share your own Telegram link
If you have a public username, your link is t.me/ followed by it, for example t.me/kopi_corner. Telegram's FAQ says opening it on a phone starts Telegram and opens a chat with you, and suggests putting it on business cards and websites.
- In Telegram, open Settings and set a username if you don't have one yet.
- Your link is
https://t.me/yourusername. Type the username into the tool above with Username selected to check it and copy the full link. - Paste it wherever you want: a bio, an email signature, a website, a flyer as a QR code.
No username? You can share t.me/+ and your phone number in international format, but it only works if your privacy settings let others find you by number. See Telegram link to a user for the difference.
Share a group or channel link
Public group or channel: the link is t.me/ followed by its username. Anyone can open it, so anyone in the group can share it. Choose Group or Channel in the tool to make the link, a QR code and a join button.
Private group or channel: people join through an invite link, which looks like t.me/+ and a random code. Telegram creates these, not you. According to Telegram's FAQ you get one in the group under Group Info > Add Member > Invite to Group via Link. Admins can also manage extra links under Profile > Edit > Invite Links, where a link can expire after a time or a number of uses, and can be turned into a QR code.
Sharing a group link without being an admin
If the group is public, copy its t.me/ username link from the group's info page and share it; you don't need to be an admin.
If the group is private, you need an invite link, and invite links are created by the group's admins. If you can't see one, ask an admin to send you a link to pass on. They can make one just for you, with its own name and limits, so they can see who joined through it.
Make a t.me share link
A share link has this form, with both values URL-encoded:
https://t.me/share/url?url=<your link>&text=<your message>
When someone taps it, Telegram's documentation says the app opens a chat picker, puts the link at the start of the message box, adds a new line and then your text. Nothing is sent until they tap send.
To make one:
- In the tool, choose Share link.
- Paste the address you want people to pass on: an article, an event page, your Liite page.
- Add a short message if you like. The tool starts with "Have a look at this:", which you can change.
- Copy the link, or copy the HTML button and put it on your website as a "Share on Telegram" button.
Share links are handy at the end of a blog post, on an event page or in a newsletter, where you want readers to forward something to their own chats.
Which link to use
- People should message you: your username link, with a pre-filled message if it helps. See Telegram chat link generator.
- People should join your group or channel: its public link, or an invite link from the app. See Telegram group join link.
- People should pass something on: a share link.
- On paper: any of the above as a QR code. See Telegram QR code generator.
If a link you shared stops working, Telegram link not working covers the usual causes.

Questions
How do I share a link in a Telegram group?
Paste the link into the group's message box and send it, like any message. To share a link from a website into a group, open a t.me share link and pick the group from the list.
Can I share a Telegram group link if I'm not an admin?
If the group is public, yes: share t.me/ plus the group's username. If it's private, you need an invite link, and those are made by admins, so ask one of them.
Does a share link send the message for me?
No. It opens Telegram, lets you pick a chat and puts the link and text in the message box. You still tap send.
