How to use it

  1. Type your UPI ID, for example yourname@okaxis, and the name people should see.
  2. Add an amount in rupees and a short note, or leave them empty so the payer types the amount.
  3. Download the QR code as PNG or SVG, or copy the pay link.
  4. Make a small test payment from another phone before you print it.

What is a UPI QR code?

A UPI QR code holds a short link that starts with upi://pay. It carries your UPI ID (pa), the payee name (pn), and optionally the amount (am), the currency (cu=INR) and a note (tn). When someone scans it with Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM or their bank's UPI app, the app opens a payment screen with your details filled in. The payer checks the name, enters their PIN and the money goes straight to your bank account.

The code is made once, in your browser, and never changes. There is no middleman, no fee from us and no account to set up. We never see the payment or your details.

Fixed amount or open amount

Leave the amount empty for a code you print once and use for every sale, such as a sticker by the till. Set an amount for a single bill, a class fee or a fixed-price item, so the payer can't type the wrong number. The note shows in the payment history, so use it for an order number.

Before you print, scan the code from another phone and send yourself a small amount. Check that the right name appears and the money arrives in the account you expect. A typo in a UPI ID is easy to miss and costly once the code is on every table.

PayNow QR codes for Singapore

Switch to PayNow mode to make an SGQR code from a +65 mobile number or a company's UEN. You can set an amount in Singapore dollars, choose whether the payer may change it, add a reference and set an expiry date. The tool builds the standard EMVCo payload with its checksum, so Singapore bank apps that pay by PayNow can read it. Malaysia's DuitNow codes aren't supported, because banks issue them.

Printing and sharing

Download the SVG for print: it stays sharp at any size, so the same file works for a sticker, a counter stand or a poster. The PNG is the UPI QR code image to send in a chat or drop into a document. Print it at least 3 cm wide with a white border, and put your name or shop name next to it so people can check before they pay. For a counter stand that customers scan from a step or two away, go bigger: about a tenth of the scanning distance is a common rule of thumb, so roughly 5 to 8 cm across, and test it from where people will stand. On WhatsApp or in an invoice, send the pay link as well as the image, since people paying on the same phone can't scan their own screen. The guide at liite.co/blog/how-to-create-a-upi-payment-link shows how to share the link so it opens the payer's app.

Questions

What is a UEN?

Your Unique Entity Number, the ID issued to your business in Singapore. It has to be linked to PayNow Corporate at your bank before the code can take payments.

Can I make a PayNow code from an NRIC?

No. This tool makes PayNow codes from a +65 mobile number or a UEN only.

Does the code expire?

Only if you set an expiry date. Without one, the code itself has no end date.
