A sample UPI payment link, field by field
Here is what the tool makes for the UPI ID sam@okaxis, the name Sam Bakes, ₹450 and the note Order 42: upi://pay?pa=sam@okaxis&pn=Sam%20Bakes&am=450.00&cu=INR&tn=Order%2042. Spaces become %20, the amount always has two decimals, and the currency is always INR.
Only pa is required. Leave out the amount and the payer types it in their app. The note shows in the payment history, so it's a good place for an order or invoice number.
Where a upi:// link works best
Put the link behind a Pay button on a web page, in a PDF invoice or in an email signature, where the payer taps it on the phone that has their UPI app.
Wherever you share the link, send the QR code image and your UPI ID with it, so the payer has another way to pay if the link doesn't open their app. The guide at liite.co/blog/how-to-create-a-upi-payment-link covers sharing in more detail.
Questions
How do I create a UPI payment link?
Type your UPI ID and the name payers should see, add an amount and a note if you want, and copy the link. It's made in your browser and needs no account.
Can I use my UPI Number instead of my UPI ID?
Not in this tool. NPCI describes the UPI Number as a numeric alias for your UPI ID, and this tool needs the full UPI ID with its @ handle, for example sam@okaxis.
Does Liite charge for payments by link?
No. The link only holds your UPI ID and the details you typed. The payer's app pays your bank account directly, and we never see the payment.
