A QR code you can keep changing
The code above always opens the same thing. Every Liite page comes with its own QR code that counts scans, and you can change the page behind it any time without reprinting.
QR code data capacity: what to know
This page starts the QR code generator for this case. For every option and how to use it, see the QR code generator.
Why your text uses more than you expect
Alphanumeric mode only covers 0–9, capital A–Z, space and $ % * + - . / :. Lower-case letters, accents, emoji and most punctuation switch the code to byte mode, which holds fewer characters. Accented and non-Latin characters take 2 to 4 bytes each in UTF-8.
Practical limits
The maximum is a lab figure. A Version 40 code has 177 modules per side, so it has to be printed large and scanned in good light. For anything longer than a few hundred characters, put the text on a web page and encode the link. This preset uses level L, which leaves the most room for data.
Questions
How many characters can a QR code hold?
Up to 4,296 capital letters and digits, 7,089 digits only, or 2,953 bytes of other text, at Version 40 with level L.
Does error correction reduce capacity?
Yes. At Version 40, level H holds 1,273 bytes compared with 2,953 at level L.
What happens if my text is too long?
The tool tells you the code can't be made. Shorten the text, lower the error correction or encode a link instead.
