How to add a link in your Instagram bio
To add a link to your Instagram bio, open the app, go to your profile and tap Edit profile, then Links, then Add external link (Add link on Android). Paste the web address and tap Done. You can add up to 5 links this way, and anyone can see them, on or off Instagram.

Add a link on iPhone or Android
These steps follow Instagram's own help page. Adding websites isn't available on a computer, so use the app.
- Tap Profile or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
- Tap Edit profile at the top of the screen.
- Tap Links.
- Tap Add external link on iPhone, or Add link on Android, and paste the address of your website.
- Tap Done.
The link then shows on your profile. Copy the address from your browser rather than typing it, so a missing letter doesn't send people to the wrong page.
Add more than one link
Repeat the steps to add another link. Instagram lets you add up to 5.
To change their order, go to your profile, tap Edit profile, then Links. Tap Options (the three dots), then Reorder links, and drag a link up or down. The first link is the one people see first, so put the one that matters most this week at the top.
To remove a link, open it from the same Links screen and tap Remove link.
Need more than five links?
Five is plenty for most people. If you need more, or you change them often, put one link in your bio that leads to a page with all of them. That's what a link-in-bio page is.
A free Liite page at liite.co/yourname holds more than five links (up to 15 blocks on Free, no block limit on paid plans), with an emoji or image on each one, social icons and a QR code. You change the page, not your Instagram profile, so the link in your bio never needs editing. You can use it alongside Instagram's own links: for example, your shop as link one and your Liite page as link two.
Write the bio around the link
Your bio can be up to 150 characters. Use them to say who you are and why someone should tap. A line such as "New recipes every Sunday" tells people what they'll find. The generator below writes a few short bios to start from: pick Instagram, describe yourself in a sentence and edit the one you like.

- Use your phone. Instagram's help page says adding websites isn't available on computers.
- Update the app. If you don't see Links under Edit profile, install the latest version from the App Store or Google Play and try again.
- Teen accounts. If you're under 18, Instagram doesn't allow links to some websites in your bio, for example sites with potentially sensitive content. Instagram says it may have removed a link like that.
- Check the address. Open the link from your profile yourself. If it goes to an error page, edit it and paste the address again.
Which links to add
Start with the place you most want people to go: your latest work, your shop, a booking page or a sign-up form. Our page on links to put in your bio has ideas for creators, small businesses and freelancers. If your links change every week, use one link-in-bio page and update that instead.
