Link in bio on YouTube: how to add links to your channel

YouTube's version of a link in bio is your channel's profile links. Add them in YouTube Studio under Customization → Profile → Links. You can show up to 14 links, and the first one appears in your channel's profile near the subscribe button.

These steps are from YouTube's help page, for YouTube Studio on a computer:

  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
  2. From the left menu, select Customization, then Profile.
  3. Under Links, click Add link and enter the title and URL of your site.
  4. Click Publish.

Your links show on your channel's Home tab. The first link is shown in the profile section near the subscribe button. The others appear when people click to see more links.

Links have to follow YouTube's external links policy. Links to websites with content that breaks it aren't allowed.

Only the first link is shown up front, so it does the work of a link in bio. Choose it with care:

  • One main destination: your newest video's companion page, your shop or your newsletter.
  • A link-in-bio page, if you share lots of things at once. Then one link in first place leads to all of them.

The title you enter is the text people see, so make it say where they'll go, for example "Shop the gear I use" rather than "Link".

  • Channel profile links: clickable.
  • Shorts descriptions and Shorts comments: URLs aren't clickable. YouTube turned this off to reduce spam and scams. That's why Shorts creators often say "link in my channel" or "link in bio".
  • Long-form video descriptions and comments, and posts: YouTube says you need your channel's access to advanced features turned on to add clickable external links there.

So for Shorts, your channel links are the place to send people.

Without tags, your website analytics can't tell a click on your channel link from a click in a video description. Add UTM tags to each channel link before you paste it into Studio, for example utm_source=youtube, utm_medium=social and utm_content=channel-links. Then visits from your channel links show up as their own source. The builder below adds the tags in your browser.

If you want to share more than your first link can hold, make it a page that lists everything. A free Liite page at liite.co/yourname can show your latest video as a player (paste a YouTube link and it becomes one), your shop, your socials and a sign-up form. Its analytics count clicks on each link without cookies, so you see what your viewers tap. Put the page as your first channel link and update it whenever you post.

On Instagram and TikTok the rules are different: see how to add a link in your Instagram bio and how to add a link to your TikTok bio.
