QR code PNG sample
This sample QR code opens example.com, an address reserved for examples, so it's safe to use in mockups, slides and tests. Download it as a PNG or SVG, or change the link to make a real one.
Free, no sign-up. Made with our free qr code generator, which runs in your browser.
What's included
- A working QR code for https://example.com, a domain reserved for documentation by RFC 2606, so it never leads anyone to a real site
- Black on white at error correction level M, the level Denso Wave says is used most often
- A 1,024 px PNG download, with 512 px and 2,048 px also available
- An SVG download that stays sharp at any size, for print mockups
- A transparent background option, for placing the code on a coloured mockup
How to change it
- Replace example.com with your own link, or switch to Wi-Fi, email, phone, SMS or plain text. The code redraws as you type.
- Pick another PNG size, or tick transparent background for a code without the white square.
- Change the colours or add a logo. Keep dark on light: the tool warns you when contrast is too low to scan.
- Scan the preview with your phone, then download the PNG or SVG.
Questions
Can you give me an example of a QR code?
The code on this page is one. It holds the web address https://example.com. Point your phone's camera at it and your phone offers to open that page.
Can I use this sample QR code in a mockup?
Yes. It's free to use anywhere, and because example.com is reserved for examples, nobody who scans your mockup lands on a real business. Swap in your own link before you print anything real.
What are the two types of QR codes?
People usually mean static and dynamic. A static code, like this one, holds the content in its pattern and never expires. A dynamic code holds a QR service's short address, which forwards to your link while the service keeps it running.
Is the PNG transparent?
Not by default: it has a white background and a narrow white border. Tick the transparent background option before you download to leave the background out.
