Bold text generator for LinkedIn

Write a heading for your LinkedIn post and copy it in bold or italic, then paste it straight into the post box. Sans bold is first because it matches LinkedIn's own text best.

What LinkedIn receives
Different characters, not formatting. The K in sans bold "Key" is U+1D5DE, Mathematical Sans-Serif Bold Capital K.

Back to plain letters
Software that applies Unicode NFKC normalisation turns these letters back into plain ones. Software that doesn't treats them as different words.

Search
Styled words can fail plain-text search. Accessible Social showed a styled word that X's search couldn't find.

Screen readers
Some screen readers skip styled characters, so keep the point of each line in plain text.

Instagram gives you one link. A Liite page at liite.co/yourname holds the rest: your links, social icons, a WhatsApp button and a real heading in a theme you pick, with no symbols needed.

Where bold works on LinkedIn

Use it for the first line of a post, or for short headings inside a longer one, like "What we learned" or "Next steps". People skim posts in the feed, and a bold line gives their eyes somewhere to land.

Keep your name, headline and job titles plain. Recruiters and colleagues search for those words, and styled letters may not match their search.

Keep it short

Bold one line, not a paragraph. A post that's half bold is harder to read, and anyone using a screen reader may hear nothing at all for those lines.

Italic is useful for a quote or a book title. Sans italic sits better next to LinkedIn's own text than the serif italic does.

Questions

Is it possible to make text bold on LinkedIn?

If your post box has no bold option, paste bold Unicode letters instead. Write the line here, copy the Sans bold version and paste it into your post.

How do I make text italic on LinkedIn?

The same way: copy the Sans italic or Italic version from this page and paste it in. The letters are italic characters, so they stay italic.

Will bold text hurt how my post performs?

We haven't seen evidence either way. The known costs are search and screen readers, so bold a heading, not the words people search for.
