TikTok engagement rate calculator

On TikTok, views do the job impressions do elsewhere, so this calculator starts with likes, comments, shares and views filled in. The figures below are sample numbers: swap in the ones from your videos.

TikTok engagement rate calculator: what to know

This page starts the engagement rate calculator for this case. For every option and how to use it, see the engagement rate calculator.

How to calculate TikTok engagement rate

Engagement rate by views = (likes + comments + shares) ÷ views × 100, using totals from the same videos.

Engagement rate by followers = ((likes + comments + shares) ÷ number of videos) ÷ followers × 100.

Sample numbers: 5 videos with 6,000 likes, 300 comments and 200 shares make 6,500 interactions. With 120,000 views that's 6,500 ÷ 120,000 × 100 ≈ 5.42%. With 20,000 followers it's 1,300 per video ÷ 20,000 × 100 = 6.5%.

Why views usually work better on TikTok

Many TikTok views come from people who don't follow you, so the rate by followers can look high or low for reasons that have nothing to do with the video. The rate by views compares interactions with the number of times the video was actually watched. Use one formula consistently and say which one when you share it.

If you track saves or favourites in your own analytics, add them to the saves box. Leave it empty if you don't, and keep it the same from month to month.

Questions

How can I check my TikTok engagement rate?

Pick your last five or ten videos. Add up their likes, comments, shares and views, enter how many videos that was and your follower count, and the calculator shows both rates with the maths written out.

Is a 10% engagement rate good on TikTok?

There's no official TikTok benchmark, and published figures differ by method, so we don't give one. Check which formula produced your 10%, then compare it with your own past videos measured the same way.

Does this look up my TikTok account?

No. Nothing is fetched. You type the numbers in and the maths runs in your browser.
