How to make a catchy wedding hashtag
Start from your names. Surnames joined together (#ShahEllis), a pun on one surname (#EllisEverAfter) or both first names with the year (#PriyaAndTom2027) are the usual patterns, and they're easy for guests to remember. Put your names, date and place in the box above and the specific group will try combinations like these.
Keep it short enough to type on a phone at a party. Write each word with a capital letter so it reads clearly, and read it in lower case too: some names run together into a different word. Avoid letters guests might double or miss, and skip punctuation, which breaks the tag.
Check it's yours before you print it
Search for your favourite on Instagram and TikTok before it goes on the invitations. If another couple already used it, their photos will mix with yours. Add the year, your venue's town or a word from your theme until the search comes back empty.
Then use exactly the same spelling everywhere: invitations, the wedding website, the welcome sign and the table cards. Photos from guests with private accounts only show to their followers, so ask close friends to send you their best pictures as well.
Questions
How do you make a catchy wedding hashtag?
Build it from your names: joined surnames, a pun on one surname, or first names plus the year. Keep it short, capitalise each word and check that nobody has used it before you print it.
Is there a free hashtag generator for weddings?
Yes, this one. Describe your wedding above, with names, date and place, and press Generate. You get a few free runs a day without signing up.
Can AI create a wedding hashtag from our last name?
Yes. Put your last names in the description and the AI suggests tags built from them. It can't check whether a tag is already used, so search for it on Instagram before you choose.
