What's included
- "Progress invoice" as the heading, with a number tied to the job (J118-02)
- The job name and site address under the client's name
- A stage line that refers to the quote, plus materials, labour and waste removal
- A note showing which stage this is and the total quoted, so the client can track what's left
- 14-day payment terms and bank details
How to change it
- Change the heading back to "Invoice" if you bill the whole job at once.
- Replace the stage and quote reference with your own, and add a line for each cost you pass on.
- If you charge tax, set the tax name and a rate on the lines it applies to.
Questions
What is a progress invoice?
An invoice for one stage of a longer job, sent as the work goes along instead of all at the end. Each one says which stage it covers and refers to the original quote or contract.
How do I show materials on a construction invoice?
Either one line per material or one line for the lot with the receipts attached. Say whether you're charging them at cost or with a markup, as agreed in your quote.
Can I turn my quote into this invoice?
Copy the quote's lines into the invoice, then split them into stages. Change the heading to "Quote" if you want to use this tool for the quote itself.
