Free, no sign-up. Made with our free invoice generator, which runs in your browser.

What's included

  • A fixed total price, with demolition, groundwork, materials, labour and skip hire as separate lines
  • Labour priced by the day, with the number of days shown
  • VAT at the UK standard rate of 20% on each line, totalled for you
  • A validity date 30 days after the quote date
  • Notes on when the price can change, time on site and the start date
  • Deposit and payment terms, and a PDF download made in your browser

How to change it

  1. Replace the sample company and customer details, and put the site address in the customer box.
  2. Break your job into stages and materials, one per line. Customers can compare quotes more easily when each part is priced separately.
  3. Change or clear the VAT rate on each line. If you aren't VAT-registered, leave the rate empty and the VAT line disappears.
  4. Edit the notes and deposit terms, then download the PDF and keep a copy with the quote number.

Questions

How do I write a construction quote?

Visit the site and agree exactly what the customer wants. Then price each stage and the materials separately, show labour by the day with the number of days, state whether VAT is included, and say how long the price is valid and when it could change. These are the points Citizens Advice tells homeowners in England to look for.

Can I charge more than my quote?

In England, Citizens Advice says a trader can't charge more than the quoted price unless the customer asks for extra work, agrees to pay for extra work the trader finds, or the trader made a genuine mistake writing or adding up the price. Put this in your notes so both sides know where they stand.

Is this a construction proposal or bid?

It's the priced part: what you'll do, what it costs and for how long the price holds. For a tender with method statements, drawings or schedules, send those documents alongside this quote.

Can I edit it in Word?

No. You get a PDF. Edit the quote here and download it again whenever the job changes.
