What's included
- "Tax invoice" with a serial number under 16 characters (letters, numbers, slash and hyphen)
- Your name, address and GSTIN, and the recipient's name, address and GSTIN
- The HSN or SAC code in each line's description
- Place of supply with the state name and code, as this is an inter-state supply
- The taxable value, the rate and amount of integrated tax, whether reverse charge applies, and a signatory line
How to change it
- Replace the sample GSTINs, addresses and state codes with real ones.
- For a supply within your own state, CGST and SGST apply instead of IGST. The tool shows one tax per line, so split the rate in the notes (for example 9% CGST + 9% SGST) and check the format with your accountant.
- Put the right HSN or SAC code in each description and set the rate that applies to it.
- Sign the PDF or the printout: Rule 46 asks for the signature or digital signature of the supplier or an authorised representative.
Questions
What is the GST invoice format?
Rule 46 of the CGST Rules lists the particulars: supplier's name, address and GSTIN, a consecutive serial number of up to 16 characters unique for the financial year, date of issue, recipient's details, HSN or SAC code, description, quantity and unit for goods, total and taxable value, rate and amount of each tax, place of supply for inter-state supplies, whether tax is on reverse charge, and a signature.
Can this make an e-invoice with an IRN and QR code?
No. Businesses that must report e-invoices get the Invoice Reference Number and QR code from the government's invoice registration portal. This tool makes a plain PDF invoice.
Why does the PDF show INR instead of ₹?
The PDF uses a standard font that can't draw the rupee sign, so amounts are written with the code INR. The amounts are the same.
