  • One line per week, with what you worked on
  • Hours in decimals (6.5, 8.25, 4.75) multiplied by the rate to the cent
  • A note saying the hours come from your time log
  • 7-day payment terms and how to pay you

How to change it

  1. Enter your hours for each line. Write 15 minutes as 0.25, 30 minutes as 0.5 and 45 minutes as 0.75.
  2. Change the rate on each line. Different tasks can have different rates.
  3. Bill by day instead: switch the units to Days and the columns become Days and Day rate.

Questions

How do I invoice for hours worked?

List the work by day or week, with the hours and your rate on each line. The invoice multiplies them out and totals them. Keep your own time log in case the client asks how you got the hours.

How do I write minutes as hours?

Divide the minutes by 60: 15 minutes is 0.25, 20 minutes is about 0.33, 30 minutes is 0.5 and 45 minutes is 0.75. So 2 hours 45 minutes is 2.75.

Can I add expenses to an hourly invoice?

Yes, but switch the units back to Quantity first, or the expense will show under Hours. Or keep hours on this invoice and send expenses on a separate one.
