Receipt template
This is a receipt, not a request for payment: the heading says Receipt and the note says it was paid in full. Change the items and amounts, then download the PDF or print it.
Free, no sign-up. Made with our free invoice generator, which runs in your browser.
What's included
- "Receipt" as the heading and "Receipt no." for the number
- Your business and the customer, with what they bought and the price of each item
- The total worked out for you
- A note saying it was paid in full, how, and on what date
- No due date to chase, as the money is already in
How to change it
- Replace the sample bike shop and customer with your own details.

- Change the heading to "Invoice" if you need to ask for payment instead.
Questions
What's the difference between an invoice and a receipt?
An invoice asks for payment and says when it's due. A receipt confirms that payment was made. In shops and online sales the two are often the same document, issued at the moment of payment.
What should a receipt include?
Your business name, a receipt number, the date, what was bought with its price, any tax, the total, and how it was paid. Some countries say when a receipt must be given; in Australia, for example, the government's business site says you must give one for sales over $75 or when a customer asks.
Can I turn a paid invoice into a receipt?
Yes. Open the invoice, change the heading to "Receipt", add a note saying when and how it was paid, and download the PDF again.
