Which Instagram size to pick
Pick 3:4 (1080 × 1440) or 4:5 (1080 × 1350) for photos of people, products and anything taller than it is wide. They fill more of the screen than a square, so they get more attention as people scroll.
Pick square (1080 × 1080) when you want the grid to look even, and landscape (1080 × 566) only for wide scenes, because they show small in the feed.
