Blur image
Choose a photo, then blur, pixelate or black out the whole thing or only the parts you draw a box over. Download the result as a PNG or JPG. The image is edited on your device and never uploaded.
Free, no sign-up. Runs in your browser. Nothing you type or upload is sent to us or stored.
Share the safe copy on your page
Put the cleaned-up image, a document or a whole gallery on a free Liite page. Images are shrunk and stripped of location data before they upload.
How to use it
- Choose an image, or drop it on the box.
- Pick blur, pixelate or a solid box, and how strong it should be.
- Drag over the parts to hide, or press Add area and set its position. Choose Whole image to cover everything.
- Download the image as a PNG or JPG.
Blur, pixelate or a solid box
Blur softens an area so shapes stay but details go: good for a busy background, a crowd or a face in a holiday photo. Pixelate turns the area into large squares of colour, which reads clearly as hidden. A solid box covers the area completely.
For anything that must stay private, like an ID number, an address, a bank detail or a signature, use a solid box or pixelate with large blocks. Light blurs and small blocks can sometimes be partly reversed for text, because the letters still leave a pattern behind. A solid box leaves nothing to recover.
Picking the areas
Drag on the preview to draw a box over each part you want to hide. You can add as many boxes as you need, and each one is listed under the image with its position and size, so you can fine-tune it or remove it. Without a mouse or touch screen, press Add area to place a box in the middle, then type its position or move it with the arrow keys (hold Shift to move it further).
Draw the box a little larger than the thing you're hiding. Blur spreads colour from the edges inward, so a tight box can leave the outline of a letter showing.
Private by design
The image is read and drawn by your browser; we never see it. The download is redrawn from the pixels you see, so hidden details, camera information and GPS location in the original file are not carried over. Check the result before you share it: zoom in on each area and make sure nothing readable is left.
Questions
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything happens in your browser. The image is never sent to us or to anyone else, and nothing is stored.
Which is safest for ID numbers and documents?
A solid box. Pixelating with large blocks is also hard to undo. A light blur over small text is the weakest choice, because the shape of the letters can sometimes be guessed back.
Does it remove the photo's location data?
Yes. The download is a new image drawn from the pixels on screen, so EXIF details such as GPS location, camera model and date aren't copied into it.
Can I blur the background but keep a face sharp?
Draw boxes over the parts of the background you want to soften. For a soft background around a person, blur a few boxes around them rather than the whole image.
Which file formats work?
Any image your browser can open, usually JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF. You can download the result as PNG (sharp, larger) or JPG (smaller, good for photos).
