Blur face
To blur a face, choose your photo and drag a box over each face. The tool starts on a strong blur, ready for faces you need to hide, and the photo never leaves your device.
Free, no sign-up. Runs in your browser. Nothing you type or upload is sent to us or stored.
At a glance
- Blur at this preset
- Strength 80 gives a blur radius of about 38 pixels when the photo's long side is 1,200 pixels. The radius grows with the photo.
- You pick the faces
- The tool doesn't detect faces. You draw a box over each one, so nothing is missed by a detector and nothing is sent to a server.
- Blur isn't proof against recognition
- Researchers trained neural networks that identified faces hidden by pixelation and by YouTube-style blurring.
- Source: arxiv.org, checked 2026-11
- Location data is dropped
- The download is redrawn from the pixels on screen, so the original file's EXIF details, such as GPS location, aren't copied into it.
Share the safe copy on your page
Put the cleaned-up image, a document or a whole gallery on a free Liite page. Images are shrunk and stripped of location data before they upload.
Blur face: what to know
This page starts the blur image for this case. For every option and how to use it, see the blur image.
Blurring faces that must stay private
A strong blur is fine for strangers in the background of a holiday photo. When it really matters who someone is, for example a child, a witness or someone at risk, use Solid box. Research has shown that software can still recognise faces through blur and pixelation, but not through a solid box.
Cover the whole head, including hair and ears, not just the face. Distinctive clothes, tattoos and name badges can identify someone too.
Before you post to Instagram or TikTok
Blur the photo here first, then post the downloaded copy. That way the sharp original never reaches the app. This tool works on photos only, not videos.
Questions
Can it find faces automatically?
No. There's no face detection: you drag a box over each face. That takes a few seconds per face, and you can check that every face is covered.
Is blur or pixelate better for faces?
For casual photos, either works if it's strong. For anyone who must not be identified, use Solid box: software has recognised faces through both blur and pixelation.
Can I blur a face in a video?
Not with this tool. It works on still images only.
Can I save the result as a PNG?
Yes. The face preset starts on JPG for smaller photo files, but you can switch the format to PNG before you download.
