At a glance
- JPG suits photos
- JPEG is the most widely used lossy format for still images and works best for photographs.

- Not for sharp text
- Lossy compression can give poor results on content that needs sharp edges, like diagrams and text. Use PNG for screenshots.

- No transparency
- JPEG doesn't support an alpha channel, so any transparent parts are filled with white in the download.

- Quality setting
- The JPG download is saved at quality 0.92 on a scale of 0 to 1.
Share the safe copy on your page
Put the cleaned-up image, a document or a whole gallery on a free Liite page. Images are shrunk and stripped of location data before they upload.
Blur JPG image: what to know
This page starts the blur image for this case. For every option and how to use it, see the blur image.
Saving the blurred photo
Each time a JPG is saved, its lossy compression is applied again. Blur from the original photo rather than from a copy you've already edited and saved several times.
If you're blurring text or a screenshot, switch the format to PNG before you download: edges stay crisp and a solid box stays perfectly solid.
Questions
How can I blur a JPG image?
Choose the photo above. It starts on Whole image with JPG as the format. Drag over parts of the photo to blur only those, then download.
How do I blur an already taken photo?
Open it here from your camera roll or computer. The tool edits any photo you already have and saves a new copy; your original stays as it was.
Does it remove the photo's location?
Yes. The download is a new image drawn from the pixels on screen, so EXIF details such as GPS location aren't copied over.
